The wind on Saturday was Westerly F4 gusting F6 and the Race Officer took the fleet further down the Loch for less shifty conditions, nevertheless the rescue teams were still kept pretty busy!

The weather was kind throughout the week. It all started with briefing on Sunday where Lewis kept the instructors in check and where we were divided into 4 groups of sailors. Throughout the week each group worked as a team on the different chores.

The Vice Commodore’s Cup races were held on the weekend of 15 and 16 June, with the Saturday being for single-handed boats, and the Sunday being for the double-handed classes. Results can be found on the Race Results page. Thanks to the various people who provided race officer and rescue boat services over the weekend.

St Mary’s Loch Sailing Club held a wild and windy regatta on Saturday 8 June, with exciting sailing, hard work, and lots of capsizes being the order of the day.

St Mary’s loch recently held a regatta on the 27th and 28th of April, with freezing temperatures and strong winds on day 1. Lots of young sailors persevered and competed in the races. Some sailors retired after a few races but many continued. After a long day everyone was warned up with some lovely homemade warm chilli made by some of the club members, which we were all very grateful for!

Members are encouraged to invite friends and family to come along to the Club on 29 June 2024 to let them try their hand at watersports, particularly dinghy sailing, and to experience for themselves why we enjoy the activities and friendliness that comes with being a part of St Mary’s Loch Sailing Club.

The Kids Camp will run from Monday 29 July to Friday 2 August. The Junior Cup will be competed for during the Friday.

We had four teams in a variety of boats and had Mediterranean style weather with sunshine, warmth and good winds. However, no-one mentioned that the water hadn’t warmed up – brrrr!
