Duty Allocation Rota 2017

Written on 19 March 2017 and updated on 7 April 2017

An update from the Vice Commodore on the organising the duty rota for 2017...

Volunteers Required

Hopefully, like the commitee, you are excited for the start of the new sailing season! It’s time to get the sails out the loft, dust down the boat and find that missing wetsuit boot….

Not long till the first five minute gun! The committee have been hard at work behind the scenes and hope that 2017 will be the ‘best season yet!’… let’s hope the weather Gods are on side!

The 2017 Club Sailing Programme has now very finalised (you can view events in the website calendar) and we have now started the process of populating the Duty Rota.

As you are all aware, the club organises a very active sailing calendar that requires the support of the membership to successfully run to plan. In order to support the varied activities that go on at the club, (whilst trying to keep the membership subscriptions down!) each active member is asked to volunteer a little bit of time to help with the running of the races and help in the rescue boats. By sharing the load, we all get to enjoy the many benefits the club offers!

All members should have received an email requesting their preferred dates whilst giving them access to the current schedule - if you have not received this then please contact dutyrota.stmlsc@gmail.com.

Tell me your preferred dates

Please email dutyrota.stmlsc@gmail.com with 3 Vacant 'On the Water' Choices (Rescue Cox / Assistant) in order of preference, together with 3 Vacant 'On Shore' Choices (Race Officer / Assistant Race Officer), again in order of preference.

I will then allocate you one 'on the water' and one 'on shore' duty, paying regard to your preferences. If you want to nominate an assistant (e.g.your crew or a family member) please do so (after checking they are available on the same dates). Its first come first served, so to ensure you get allocated your preferred date please respond ASAP. Any members who have not replied by the 7th April will be automatically allocated a date in alphabetical order.

Please note: once you have been allocated a duty it will become your responsibility to ensure that the duty is fulfilled. The committee fully understand that you may become unavailable to make your duty, however, it remains your responsibility to organise a ‘swap’ with another member. Please ensure you let us know of any changes so that the rota can be updated.
