Big Kids Camp

Written on 6 June 2017

BKC’17 was again a huge success, with a compliment of 20+ senior cadets (!) and instructors. As ever the weather played a major role providing some interesting and challenging conditions, but on the whole the wind was generally well behaved enough for full sailing days. The camp had a full range of abilities form those starting out or coming back to sailing after a decade or two away to those looking to hone their racing skills.

Amazing progress was made across the board, and particularly from the novices. Our evenings were rather more relaxed and a fantastic social event where new friendships have been made over a glass or two (and surprisingly everyone was tucked up by 12.30 which indicated just how much sailing was squeezed in!!) By all accounts there were bruises on bruises by the time camp closed, but once again big smiles all around.

Our collective thanks from the Big Kids to Ian, Charles, Alison, Shona, Lorry and Nathan for their excellent tuition. And for those who haven’t heard, Ian is an early candidate for the ‘Totally Knackered’ award - just ask him for a capsize demonstration!
